The temperature inside the car should be moderate. You can put a small blanket or towel over the cage to avoid extreme climate. Traveling exposes the bird to different kinds of climate and you don't want your bird to end up sick, at the end of the journey. Never leave your pet alone in the car, the heat outside can affect the temperature inside and give your bird sunstroke. Take along the bird's food dishes, and enough food and water from your house; a change of food and water can give your bird an upset tummy. You could also take along some favorite toys if you plan a long journey, and your pet might get bored.

Flying with your parakeet Crates Airlines have strict rules regarding transport of pets. Whatever type of pet you own, they will be transported only in crates.

Crates are available in different dimensions, varying from small ones for birds to bigger ones for animals. Actually, for pets, traveling in crates is much safer. The ideal crate should provide security and comfort for your parakeet, while traveling. To get your pet comfortable with the crate, you should introduce it to your pet a few weeks before the travel, so that the bird doesn't get stressed out during the journey. Practice leaving the bird inside the crate for short periods of time, which can then be extended to longer periods. Remember to praise your pet for its good behavior.
